Chicago Marathon | World Vision

Team Calvary

Elyse ran her first marathon with Team World Vision in 2017 and is back again for her sixth this year. She loves her work as an English professor at Olivet Nazarene University--including summers off! In her spare time, Elyse enjoys reading, baking, and re-learning piano. Elyse and her husband, John, have attended Calvary since 2014 and have two kids.

Elyse - Team Captain

Mom of two, professional chauffeur for my kids, craft enthusiast, and first-time marathon runner. Most days you’ll find me juggling family life, training miles, and trying to convince myself that long runs are “fun.” I’m honored to run for something bigger than myself.

Angelica

Please pray for strength on the hard days, good health throughout training. Most of all, pray that God uses this journey to bring clean water and hope to children who need it.

When I’m not running, I love being outside with my kids, reading and day dreaming of our next family trip. I’m excited to run my second marathon; one of my goals for this year was to run a half marathon, a full marathon, and a trail race!

Chesleigh

Please pray that I will stay healthy and past injuries won’t be an issue.

Loved by and loving others through Jesus Christ. Aspiring podcaster and audio engineer. Grateful dad and husband. Barely viable runner.

Erik

Pray that the Lord will help me raise my target amount of money to impact 120 kids with clean water. Pray that I would share the love of Jesus with others throughout my marathon training program.

Jana is the mother of two daughters, Ellie (13) and Ivy (11), and the wife of Jon. Their family enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors. She works as an occupational therapist and values connecting with people throughout the city. This will be her second marathon; her first was nearly 20 years ago. When she is not running the streets of Oak Park, she enjoys curling up with a good book.

Jana

Pray for time, stamina, and to reach my funding goal.

Jhonatan loves making barbecue, He likes sharing his food with people, he never thought he would be able to run a Marathon, when he started training the 10 miles number looked unrealistic since he never run before in his life, but he loved playing soccer so he had the strength in him.

Jhonathan

Jonathan is a book loving dad of 3 who went from hating running to training for a marathon! When I am not running, I enjoy planning our next family trip, board games, playing any sport, reading, and playing with my kids.

Jonathan B.

Pray for continued discipline to complete training.

I am a Tolkien fan who aspires to be like Frodo, traversing 26.2 miles under the all-seeing eye of the Sun! While I’m not particularly a runner, clean water for people in need seemed like a worthy project and worth my time. Not only do I enjoy Tolkien, Lewis, and other great fantasy and religious writers; I also enjoy football with my family.

Jonathan V.

Pray for me to avoid injury during training and running, and to be able to reach my funding goal.

Taylor is a husband and father who is comfortable being uncomfortable so marathon training sounded fun. His wife describes him as a big nerd who is annoyingly athletic.

Taylor

Pray for no injuries and to reach his fundraising goal. And that his baby can sleep through the night, sleep would be nice.
