Prayer at Calvary

Our purpose is to pray frequently to pray for our church family, our community, and the world. At Calvary, we aim to make prayer a foundational aspect of every service and ministry, and to model, teach, and encourage prayer among our church members. We seek to foster a closer relationship with the Lord, ask for His guidance, and ask that He make us effective in our ministry. We also aim to grow spiritually as a community, share the Gospel, and bring glory to God in all that we do.

Our Focus

-Facilitate an all-church prayer event to cast a vision for rich corporate prayer and praise.

-To host some prayer training to encourage prayer for every adult and child, e.g., a class and/or training for each small group.

- Reboot the prayer partners offering prayer after every Sunday service (working with staff).

- Increase the frequency of testimony, prayer, and praise times (such as we did on New Year’s Day) to build each other’s faith by hearing others declare the marvelous works of God among us.

-Offering several corporate prayer gatherings monthly to put all this into practice; we learn to pray by praying.  (e.g., the Wednesday evening worship-based prayer and Sat prayer)

National Day of Prayer

We are excited to extend an invitation to you for the 73rd National Day of Prayer on May 2, 2024. This day, of immense importance, was established in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress. It serves as a powerful reminder for people of all backgrounds to unite in prayer for our nation, recognizing the profound impact our collective prayers can have on our country and the world.

This intentional time of prayer will take place from 7pm to 8:15pm in the church dining room. This will be a time to pray for the federal, state, and local governments and six other spheres of influence: business, arts/media/entertainment, education, churches, families/marriages, and military/first responders.

During the event, we will arrange seating at round tables to facilitate a sense of community. Prayer leaders will guide us from the front of the room, and we will encourage prayers to be shared around the table, in pairs, or in personal silence. This interactive format, with its variety of prayer styles, ensures that everyone can participate in a way that feels most comfortable to them. If you have any questions or would like more information, please don't hesitate to contact Beth Spisiak, our prayer coordinator.
