Ray & Ruth Leaf

The Leafs

Ray and Ruth Leaf served as church-planting missionaries with SEND International in Japan from 1972-2009. From 1972-1980 they began with language study, spent time in evangelism and working with Japanese laymen and pastors. In 1980 they began a new church plant going door to door passing out Living New Testaments and teaching Sunday school for children.

In 1994 the Mizuhodai Christ church called their own Japanese pastor. That year they moved to Higashi Yamoto, Tokyo to help a small group of Japanese Christians with a goal to grow a Bible study into a church with greater outreach. In 2008 the Chuo Christ Gospel Church called their own pastor. From 2008-2009 Ray and Ruth served at the Okutama Bible Chalet—a camp ministry that  reaches the children and young people of Japan with the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are currently retired and living in Aurora.

The Leafs have three grown children: Ernie, Alice and John.
