Calvary Missions Trip

Campamento Radical has been reaching Mexican youth for the past 20 years, exposing them to the gospel for the very first time, as well as training them in godliness and leadership. Radical's purpose is to reach Mexico with Christ, one person at a time, and then prepare them for service in their local churches. We do this by providing a safe and exciting environment where Christ is highly exalted through worship, solid Biblical teaching, and times of devotion and reflection, as well as team building and fun through sports, games, and activities. Every summer we are looking for believers from the States who are willing to push their comfort level and come invest in the kingdom of God. You will be challenged in your own faith as you give of yourself in service to the Mexican youth. Do you know how to wash and dry dishes or clean bathrooms? There's a place for you! Can you work in food prep? God can put you to work in Radical! Do you know enough Spanish to be a counselor in one of the cabins? Ask Jesus to use you this summer on the outskirts of Guadalajara!

Purpose of Trip

We will be serving with Calvary missionaries Frank and Rebecca Arellanes in Mexico, to help them run a summer camp for Mexican teenagers called "Radical". The camp meets an hour west of the city of Guadalajara, and they have around 100 Mexican teens that come each year.

Our Calvary team will be primarily serving as support staff for the camp; doing setup and teardown of activities, cleaning up after meals, mopping and cleaning common areas, and also helping run the games and activities each day. Persons who are fluent in Spanish could also potentially serve as cabin counselors.

Here's a video from a few years back showing what the camp is like.

Ideal Candidates

Trip Dates

Camp Radical is from July 21st-27th, and we would come early (at least by the 21st) for setup, and stay afterwards on the 27th to pack up. One last optional experience would be adding a rest day in Puerto Vallarta on the 28th.

Estimated Cost

The actual cost will be somewhere between $1,200-1,500 per person, with a goal of fundraising and writing support letters to cover the vast majority of the cost.

The trip requires enough physical health and stamina to work outside for full days, and at increased elevation (~5,000 ft). There are no age requirements otherwise!

Also speaking Spanish is a huge plus but isn't mandatory. We would love to send a team of around 12 people from Calvary this summer, with more opportunities in coming years.
