Share your love of reading with your church community. The Calvary Book Club meets the 3rd Monday of the month to discuss a book that both intellectually stimulates and challenges our faith. Attend every month or jump in when a particular book grabs your attention.

Calvary Book Club's next meeting is Monday, May 20 at 7pm in the Dining Room and will discuss Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter.

A classic of American literature, this story is set in Puritan Colonial America and explores themes of shame, hypocrisy, and how people are treated for transgressing social and religious conventions.

"Like all of Hawthorne's novels, The Scarlet Letter has but a slender plot and but few characters with an influence on the development of the story. Its great dramatic force depends entirely on the mental states of the actors and their relations to one another, —relations of conscience, — relations between wronged and wrongers." (Amazon)
