Dear Calvary Family,

Yesterday the Village of Oak Park issued a Shelter in Place order for Friday, March 20 at 12:01 a.m. through Friday, April 3 at 11:59 p.m. This order has implications for the way we utilize our building. I reached out to the Village and confirmed the following items are within the guidelines of the order:

1. Hosting the Live Stream for our worship service at church on Sunday mornings.

2. Allowing our Building Staff to care for regular maintenance needs.

3. Hosting PADS at church on Thursday nights.

We continue to monitor this new order and other updated information from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), and the Oak Park Public Health Department.

Tomorrow we will send out our Weekly Update email with the March 22 Live Stream worship service details and information for next week’s new online gatherings. In the meantime, please take a moment to set up a Zoom account. Zoom will be the main online software we use to continue our personal connections.

In hope,

Jonathan Cummings, Executive Pastor

Dear Calvary Family,

It is our desire to keep you informed during this time of uncertainty. To that end, let me encourage you to take a moment to watch a video update from Pastor Gerald (by clicking on the image above) and reading the information below.

It was good to hear reports that many of you joined us for worship yesterday via Live Stream. Thank you for your patience as we worked out some initial issues. We will again Live Stream our service at 10:45AM this coming Sunday, March 22. The Live Stream link and Worship Guide will be posted at and sent via email later this week.

As Pastor Gerald stated on Sunday morning, the Calvary Elder Board met last night for a time of prayer and planning. In the meeting, the Elders affirmed that we will continue to follow the public health recommendations for social distancing.

While this current health pandemic is creating a lot of challenges for us as a church, we are as committed as ever to finding creative ways to stay connected. We do not have a clear timeline as to when we will be able to return to our normal schedules. As a result, we will be making plans two weeks at a time.

Moving forward, we have decided to conduct all Calvary-related gatherings (E.g. small groups, special interest groups, prayer meetings, Bible studies, etc.) using Zoom functionality. In the upcoming days, please take the time to download the Zoom App and register for a free Zoom account.

At this point, we are not ready to roll out our full online programming. We will be taking the remainder of this week to organize and plan, with the goal being to launch our new online programming next week. That said, we would like to share that one of our primary new online initiatives will be a weekly Wednesday night interactive online prayer meeting for the entire church utilizing Zoom. Zoom functionality will even permit us to subdivide the large group of attendees into smaller groups, facilitating times of small group prayer. These prayer gatherings will begin on Wednesday, March 25. Upcoming communications will provide you with more information.

Throughout this time, the Elders and Ministry Staff remain committed to continuing our practice of praying for the needs of this congregation. To facilitate this, we have created an online form for you to share any prayer requests or needs you may have.

We also request that you continue to keep the Ministry Staff and Elders in your prayers. Please pray specifically for the Spirit of God to give us wisdom and discernment in the upcoming weeks.

Jonathan Cummings, Executive Pastor
