Welcome
to Calvary Memorial Church’s
Upper Room Service
Here’s
some helpful information about our newest worship service.
What is the Upper Room?
A place for intimate, informal “worship that engages the
spirit in the pursuit of Truth” (John 4:23, The Message).
The Upper Room is your service! Please express your feedback, suggestions,
desires and hopes to any member of the leadership team. We want
to hear from you!
Seekers and Guests
If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus or aren’t
sure, we’re glad you’re here! Please observe and participate
in the service at the level, which you feel comfortable. We hope
you’ll sense the love of God’s people, the presence
of His Spirit, and be drawn to Jesus. If you have questions or
would like to know more about what it means to follow Jesus, we’ll
be happy to talk with you.
Worship
A team of leaders and musicians will lead us in corporate
worship. Feel free to stand, sit, kneel, clap, sing or listen
as you express
praise to God. Please be sensitive to those around you and
worship God with your whole being.
Prayer
Prayer is an important part of worship. If you feel a need for
prayer about anything before, during or after the service, seek
out our “prayer partners,” who would be happy to pray
with you. We have several areas reserved for this purpose.
Teaching
The congregation in the 10 AM Sanctuary and Upper Room services
will hear the same teaching from Pastor Ray. The sermon will
be broadcast from the Sanctuary and viewed on a large screen
in the
Upper Room.
Giving
Visitors and guests should not feel obligated to participate
by giving in the offering. But you are most welcome to give
if you
desire to.
Bibles
There are no “pew Bibles” in the Upper Room. We encourage
you to make a habit of bringing your own Bible with you. The New
International Version (NIV) is referenced most often.
After the Service
Fellowship/Coffee
We encourage you to get to know others worshipping with you in
the Upper Room. Caribou Coffee is available after the service
for a $1.50 donation (to help defray the cost). But during
the worship
time, we ask that you not bring food or drink into the Upper
Room.
Post-Service Discussion
For those wishing to interact and discuss the sermon topic, there
will be a brief, leader-led small group discussion after each
service in a designated area of the Upper Room. Grab some coffee
and join
us!
Adult Education
There are classes before and after the service, for adults (Adult
Bible Fellowships) and for students. We hope you’ll join
a small fellowship group at Calvary. They are the primary place
of ministry, spiritual growth and care.
Serving
There are many opportunities to serve in the Upper Room and the
Sanctuary: welcoming and passing out programs, praying with others,
and helping with coffee or technical teams. Please indicate your
area of interest on the “Welcome” form in the bulletin
and drop it in the offering basket, and someone will contact you.
For
Safety’s Sake
Seating
The Upper Room will handle up to 230 people comfortably. Please
fill in empty seats toward the center of rows so that we can
accommodate everyone.
Exits
The Upper Room has a number of emergency exits. Please make note
of them as you familiarize yourself with the newly renovated
West Wing.
