Worship
is one of the great elements that makes us "who we are"
as a church. We believe that God and God alone is worthy of
worship. He should be worshiped in loud, joyful, praise, for
He has redeemed us and conquered death forever. He should
be worshiped in quiet, loving reverence, for He is holy and
just and rules all things with majesty and grace.
As
a worship and music ministry, the primary calling we have
is to give our congregation the opportunity to come together
and pay attention to God. We believe that worship is not about
performance or entertainment. It's about God - how we can
offer something of honor to Him, and what we hear Him saying
to us through His Word.
The
next great calling we have is to give each worshiper tools
that he or she can use in order to worship God. In order
to do this, we offer four Sunday morning worship times and
two distinct musical "styles" for people who worship at Calvary.
It is our desire that through these times of worship - which
we believe are "celebrations" - you, the worshiper
are able to pay attention to God and offer Him a "sacrifice
of praise." (Hebrews 13:15) We pray that you take from
our worship celebrations songs, hymns, and challenges from
the Word that you can use in your own personal worship - the
living out of your life.
At 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM we offer contemporary worship celebrations. The contemporary celebrations are led by a worship team, praise band (usually made up of guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums), and frequently, Celebration Choir.
At 9:00 AM, we offer our traditional worship celebration. Led by our Sanctuary Choir, the traditional celebration incorporates hymns and some elements of liturgy accompanied by organ, piano, and frequently, orchestra. Scripture reading and prayer are part of all of our worship times, and the message is the same in all three celebrations. Communion is offered during the worship celebrations on the first Sunday of every month.

We
also welcome everyone who is interested in the worship
and music ministry. There are many opportunities for you
to be a part of the team. Included on this page is a listing
of opportunities, links, and people to contact.
How do I get involved?
• Download an application (See right hand column).
•
Read it
and fill it out.
• Schedule
an interview/audition with Patrick Baker. For
vocalists, this is a one-step process. For praise band people,
you'll have an interview with Andrew and then an audition
with him and some other instrumentalists.
• Bring the completed application to your interview.
What
if I want to get involved in something else? Contact
Paula Sherman (see link below). She'll make sure you get in
touch with the "right people."
Thanks!
