M I S S I O N S
Ever
since
our
founding
in
1915,
Calvary
has
maintained
a
strong
commitment
to
world
missions.
We're
serious
about
Christ's
command
to
"preach
the
gospel
to
every
creature"
(Mark
16:15).
Missions
spending
currently
represents
about
20
percent
of
the
total
church
budget.
We
support
37
missionary
couples
or
singles
serving
in
21
different
nations.
We
expect
to
send
out
several
more
missionaries
in
the
next
few
years.
But
missions
is
not
just
for
a
select
few
who
can
serve
overseas.
We
work
hard
at
communicating
the
needs
of
our
missionaries
so
that
everyone
can
support
them
through
prayer
and
personal
encouragement.
We
also
organize
regular
short-term
missions
trips
so
that
as
many
people
as
possible
can
help
spread
the
Good
News
across
cultural
barriers.
To
keep
our
Great
Commission
commitment
strong,
we
host
a
World
Focus
Week
each
spring.
What
is
a
Missionary?
In
Matthew
28:19
&
20
Jesus
gives
His
followers
important
instructions,
"Therefore
go
and
make
disciples
of
all
nations,
baptizing
them
in
the
name
of
the
Father
and
of
the
Son
and
of
the
Holy
Spirit,
and
teaching
them
to
obey
everything
I
have
commanded
you.
And
surely
I
am
with
you
always,
to
the
very
end
of
the
age."(NIV)At
Calvary
Memorial
Church,
we
believe
a
missionary
is
any
believer
that
takes
up
Jesus'
command
to
make
disciples
of
all
nations.
A
missionary
is
someone
who
crosses
cultural
boundaries
to
further
the
spread
of
the
gospel.
This
can
be
done
through
relationships
with
people
in
your
own
community
who
are
from
a
different
culture,
or
on
the
other
side
of
the
world.
