"Christ
in you, the hope of glory." - Colossians 1:27
Purpose
Statement
Women’s Ministry seeks to help each woman at Calvary, who so desires,
to realize her centeredness in Christ Jesus, and to assist and encourage
wherever possible in this process.
We
believe that . . .
• Ministry
functions best in the context of established relationships.
• Spiritual growth is commensurate with bible study
• The fellowship of the church is the best environment in which to encourage
and strengthen each other in our walk
in the Word.
Therefore,
Women’s Ministries will seek to do the following.
Goals 1. TO FOSTER FRIENDSHIPS BETWEEN WOMEN He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is
gracious will have the king for his friend. (Prov
22:11)
If
one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity
the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
(Eccl 4:10)
2.
TO BUILD BIBLE KNOWLEDGE . . . man does not live on bread alone but on
every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
(Deut 8:3). . . The word is very near you; it is
in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.
(Deut 30:14)
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. (Ps 119:105)
. . .Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over
me. (Ps 119:133) . . .Give me understanding according to your word. (Ps
119:169)
Sanctify
them by the truth; your word is truth. (John 17:17)
. . ."Now I commit you to God and to the word
of his grace, which can build you up and give you
an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
(Acts 20:32)
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who
does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
(2 Tim 2:14-15) . . .For the word of God is living and active. Sharper
than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and
spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the
heart. (Heb 4:12)
.
. . the word of the Lord stands forever."
And this is the word that was preached to you. (1 Peter 1:25)
3.
TO DISCIPLE EACH OTHER THROUGH FRIENDSHIPS " Blessed rather are those who hear the
word of God and obey it." (Luke 11:28) "My
mother and brothers are those who hear God's word
and put it into practice." (Luke 8:21)
Do
not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.
Do what it says. (James 1:22-23)
We
know that we have come to know him if we obey his
commands. The man who says, "I know him," but
does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth
is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God's
love is truly made complete in him. This is how we
know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him
must walk as Jesus did. (1 John 2:3-6)
Perfume
and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness
of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel.
(Prov 27:9)
Let
the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach
and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as
you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude
in your hearts to God. (Col 3:16)
As
iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
(Prov 27:17)
.
. . Teach the older women to be reverent in the way
they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much
wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train
the younger women to love their husbands and children,
to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home,
to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands,
so that no one will malign the word of God. (Titus
2:3-5)
