THE KITCHEN

WHAT IS THE KITCHEN?

The Kitchen is a three-part Women’s Ministry:

Providing Godly connectedness for women through a cooking mentorship once a month

Providing meals to shut-ins, new parents, recovering patients, and others

Providing a free Wednesday night supper once a month for our congregation and others in our community

We will serve those who cannot afford to eat, those whose life circumstances or schedules temporarily prevent them from cooking for their families, those who may not have the ability to shop, plan, or prepare meals due to illness or disability, and any other persons who are hungry, malnourished, and need food to thrive or survive.

HOW CAN YOU HELP THE KITCHEN?

-By mentoring a woman who has limited cooking skills.

Mentors should be experienced cooks with basic knowledge of meal planning, budgeting, grocery shopping, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks. Mentors need NOT be professional chefs, but be willing to inspire, encourage, and teach those women who have not learned to cook, while developing a deeper Christian relationship with their mentoree.  Mentors can try out this ministry without any obligation on a Saturday in the first part of October, 2010, and then decide about the commitment of one Saturday and/or one Wednesday per month.

-By signing up for the ministry if you have little or no cooking skills or experience.

If you can’t boil water without burning it, this is the place for you! Mentorees can try out this ministry without any obligation for one of two Saturday sessions in the first part of October, 2010, and then decide about the commitment of one Saturday and/or one Wednesday per month.  Child care (with snacks) will be provided free of charge, as children will not be allowed in the kitchen for safety and sanitary reasons.

-By spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to diners by praying, meeting, greeting, seating, serving, and cleaning.  In other words, volunteering your time and service one Wednesday per month from October to December, 2010, or January to May, 2011.

-By volunteering to deliver meals to shut-ins and others.

If you'd like to be a part of this new ministry, contact Pam Compasio at  and let her know where you'd like to serve.
