Thank you for giving to Grow the Vision 2018! Through your generous and sacrificial giving, Calvary received over $99,000 in gifts during this giving initiative. We have greatly reduced our deficit, and our $9,137 gift towards the ongoing establishment of Young Life Morton will be doubled. We thank God for you and your faithfulness to this church.

Watch Part 1 | Sunday, November 4

It was three years ago that we first started our annual Grow the Vision campaign. Grow the Vision was created out of the desire to help address our own budget deficit at Calvary. Yet, while we had our own deficit to take care of, we did not want to focus solely on our own situation. We wanted Grow the Vision to also be an opportunity for the congregation to partner with a new, exciting work; a work that we believed aligned with Calvary's mission and DNA.

In our first year, 2015, we helped launch the first class for the Lawndale Christian Legal Center MAC House. In 2016, our financial support went toward the creation of a new staff role at Kids Alive-Guatemala. The establishment of this role meant KA-G did not have to turn away new girls in need of residence at their Oasis site. Last year we were able to support the launch of the 2nd class for the LCLC MAC House.

Each of those years we gave our Grow the Vision partner a percentage (10-15%) of all the funds brought in through our regular giving during the designated giving period.

About Grow the Vision

As of November 14, Calvary is $159,000 behind in our year-to-date budgeted giving. In order for us as a church to fully accomplish our 2018 financial and ministry goals, we must eliminate this budget deficit. Yet, while we have our own significant needs, we do not want to be a church that looks only at our own problems and challenges. While we do have a large budget deficit, we also realize that God is doing exciting things all around us. We want GTV to be an opportunity to address our own deficit, and at the same time charitably give away a portion of what we bring in to a partner engaged in a new work. In light of that desire, 10% of all regular tithes and offering collected from Wednesday, November 14 at Noon through Sunday, November 18 at 11:59PM will go to support the launch of Young Life Morton.

About Young Life Morton

Young Life’s mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. There is a great need and opportunity for Young Life’s mission at both Morton East and Morton West High Schools. The combined population of these schools is 8,600 students. Jonathon Gorny, a Calvary missionary, is in the initial phases of launching Young Life Morton. We are allocating 10% of our Grow the Vision 2018 offering to this new endeavor.

Jonathon Gorny has a matching gift of up to $10k. If GTV 2018 brings in $100k, we will fully realize this match; anything less leaves money on the table. This is doable. Two of our previous GTV campaigns brought in over $100k.

What are we asking?

If you are presently not a regular giver

If you do not regularly give to Calvary, please consider using Grow the Vision 2018 as an opportunity to launch yourself into a commitment of regular giving at Calvary.

If you are a regular giver

If you give regularly to Calvary, thank you! At this time, please prayerfully consider what you can give over and above your regular giving to Grow the Vision 2018.

What Else Does Grow the Vision Support?

90% of Grow the Vision 2018 goes toward our operating budget, which ultimately enables us to accomplish our mission of Making Jesus Christ Known in Oak Park and Around the World. The following list identifies a few ways these monies are used:
