Here is a note concerning an opportunity in Haiti for medical professionals from Laura Lange, our Deaconness of Missions:

Dr. David Fisher, one of Calvary’s 2009 short-term missions associates, has connections to a Christian organization in Haiti, El Shaddai Ministries International.  It is a leading evangelical, grassroots organization in Haiti.  ESMI has organized an “orphan village” just east of Port-au-Prince in a safe location, and they are calling for medical teams to minister to hundreds of medically needy children who are victims of last week’s earthquake.  Medical supplies are also needed.  If you have medical training and you have interest in traveling to Haiti for a 5-7 day trip sometime in the next 2-3 weeks, please contact Laura Lange, or Hans and Mary Jane Svebakken. Dr. Fisher has worked with ESMI in Haiti and can vouch for their trustworthiness in providing safety for short-term missionaries, even in the current conditions.
